Project Overview

A homeowner in Speke, Liverpool wanted to upgrade their rear-garden with new paving and fencing. The original garden had become aged and tired, the old paving was uneven, some of the stones had cracked and the fence had deteriorated due to age and exposure to weather.

The client wanted a solution that was practical and tied in nicely with their grassed area, perfect for spending time outside and entertaining guests, while also improving privacy to their garden.

Removal of old material and Ground Preparation

The first step of this project was to remove the old patio and fencing.

We cleared the original paving stones and removed the old fence, we then excavated the area so that it was the correct depth for the new Indian sandstone. We removed all waste materials to leave a clean area ready for the new paving to be placed.

Preparing the ground properly is essential for the new paving installation, this ensures a long life-span of the finished product.

New Fence Installation

Before the Indian sandstone paving was laid, we installed a new, wooden fence around the perimeter of the garden.

We sectioned the fencing between white posts and ran the fencing along a white-brick base, this has ensured durability while also improving security and privacy of the garden for the client, at the same time giving a fresh new look.

Indian sandstone installation

Once we had completed the initial clearance and groundwork, we installed a new sub-base and compacted this down to prevent the new Indian sandstone from sinking later on.

The Indian sandstone slabs were carefully laid and evenly spaced to create a smooth, visually appealing patio area. We also added a wooden barrier between the Indian sandstone and the grass to create a seamless transition between the two.

Indian sandstone is a popular choice due to its natural appearance and versatility for different environments.

The new paving has provided the client with a stylish and practical outdoor area that can be enjoyed with minimal maintenance.
