Recently, we completed a garden transformation in Warrington, involving the removal of some overgrown foliage and roots and the installation of a brand-new Indian sandstone pathway, creating a safe, practical, and visually appealing front garden.

Project Overview

A homeowner in Warrington contacted Country Groundworks after some foliage in their front garden had become fairly overgrown and their original pathway had become worn with age.

They wanted something that would be long-lasting and improve access throughout the garden while enhancing the property’s overall aesthetic. After discussing the available options, Indian sandstone was selected due to its natural beauty, durability, and low-maintenance qualities.

Removal of old pathway and foliage roots

Our team removed the old pathway and grass turf and excavated the area to the correct depth, removing any roots and any unstable ground material, leaving a level surface ready for the next step.

Once the site had been cleared, we installed a high-quality sub-base to provide a strong and stable foundation for the new pathway. The sub-base was levelled and mechanically compacted to ensure the new Indian Sandstone pathway is durable in the long term.

All waste materials, including roots, old turf and old paving, were responsibly removed from site, leaving a clean area ready for the new installation. This step is essential to ensure the finished product is long-lasting.

New Indian sandstone Slabs

Next, we began installing the new Indian sandstone pathway.

Indian sandstone is one of the most popular choices for garden paths in Warrington due to its natural appearance and hard-wearing properties. Each slab was carefully laid and aligned to create a smooth, level surface that blends seamlessly with the front garden.

As part of the installation, careful attention was paid to levels and drainage to ensure water drains away effectively, helping to maintain the appearance and longevity of the pathway.

Installing the New Grass Turf

We  then laid some new grass turf where the old grassed area originally was.

The new turf has created a fresh garden area at the front of the property.

With the old foliage and roots removed, the area will be a low-maintenance space while also feeling far more open, spacious, and modern.

The Finished Result

This landscaping project in Warrington completely transformed the front garden. By removing the old roots, renovating the grassed area and installing a new Indian sandstone pathway, we created a safe, durable, and attractive area that the homeowner can enjoy for many years.
