Recently, we completed a full driveway transformation in Runcorn, Liverpool, installing a brand-new tarmac driveway with a decorative block paving border, along with a new footpath to enhance access around the property.
Project Overview
A homeowner in Runcorn wanted to replace their existing driveway, which had become worn, uneven, and no longer complemented the appearance of the property.
The client was looking for a long-lasting driveway solution that would improve kerb appeal while providing a practical parking area for everyday use. They also requested a new footpath to improve access to the front door and create a clean, cohesive finish throughout the front of the house.
Removal of existing driveway and ground preparation
The first stage of the project involved removing the old driveway surface and excavating the area to the correct depth for the new material to be poured
Proper groundwork preparation is essential to every driveway installation. Once the existing materials had been removed, we excavated and graded the area before installing a high-quality sub-base.
The sub-base was carefully levelled and compacted to create a strong and stable foundation for the new driveway. All waste materials were responsibly removed from site, leaving a clean and prepared area ready for the installation.
Proper ground preparation ensures that the finished driveway remains durable, resistant to sinking, and capable of withstanding daily vehicle traffic for many years.
New driveway and block paving edge installation
Once the groundwork had been completed, we installed the new tarmac driveway.
Tarmac remains one of the most popular driveway surfaces due to its durability, cost-effectiveness, and clean appearance. The new surface was laid and compacted to create a smooth, hard-wearing finish that will provide years of reliable use.
To enhance the overall appearance of the driveway, we installed a decorative block paving edge around the perimeter. The contrasting block border not only adds visual appeal but also provides additional structural support to the driveway edges.
The combination of the tarmac and the block paving creates a modern, attractive finish that perfectly complements both traditional and contemporary homes.

As part of the project, we also constructed a new tarmac footpath leading to the property’s entrance.
The new path was designed to seamlessly integrate with the driveway, creating safe and convenient access to the property, while improving the overall layout of the front garden. Careful attention was given to levels and drainage to ensure a practical, long-lasting result.
The finished footpath has significantly improved accessibility and added further visual appeal to the property.
