If your outdoor space is looking tired, uneven, or outdated, a full patio and pathway renovation can completely transform your garden. Recently, our team at Country Groundworks completed a bespoke patio upgrade in Stockton Heath in Cheshire. This patio install delivered a modern, durable, and visually striking finish using high-quality porcelain paving.
Project Overview
The customer contacted us looking a patio transformation to modernise their property. The property had pathways which allowed access to the garden but these were old and let down the look of the property. Moss had started growing on some of the flagstones which made it unsafe. It was clear that a more modern and safer solution was needed for our customer.
With our experience in installing high-quality porcelain patios, this was no problem for Country Groundworks.Â
Work Carried Out
Our team travelled to Stockton Heath to speak with the client and get an understanding of their requirements. Our client also had a raised section of patio at the top of their garden, with steps down onto the lawn which needed replacing. Once we had agreed and given a quote that the client was happy with, work could start on the improvements.
Replacement of the Old Paths
The project in Cheshire began with the careful removal of existing path paving stones. Over time, old paving can become uneven, unsafe, and visually unappealing. By stripping everything back, we were able to prepare a solid foundation for a long-lasting installation and ensure proper ground levels throughout the space.
The customer had picked a lovely light grey porcelain paving which lifted and modernised the look of their home whilst contrasting with the sand coloured brickwork of their home. This installation also turned out much safer option than was was already there as the new level flagstones offers improved grip.
Stepped path refurbishment
Along the edge of the grass, the garden had a stepped path which led down to the shed. Over time some of these flagstones had come loose so it was a good idea to have these renewed to match the rest of the paving work at this property at Stockton Heath.
Other pathway work
The property also had pathways which went past flower beds which had become overgrown and slippery with plant debris, making them not usable for the client. We dug up the old paths, levelled the ground, created clear borders for the plants and trimmed them back. Then we installed the new paving which completely changed the usability of these sections of the garden.Â
Raised Patio Refurbishment
To improve usability and aesthetics, the patio was raised to a new level and finished with premium porcelain flags. Porcelain paving is a popular choice in with our clients in the UK due to its:
Slip resistance
Low maintenance
Exceptional durability
Modern, clean appearance
Raising the patio at this property in Stockton Heath helped create a smoother transition between the house and garden whilst also improving drainage.
New Porcelain Flag Steps
The finishing touch of the patio was installing custom porcelain flag steps. These steps not only tie in the patio to the lawn area but also provide safe, practical access between levels. Matching the steps to the patio creates a seamless, high-end finish that elevates the rear of the property. The addition of a wooden railing has made this space a lot more accessible for our client.
Installation of a New Drainage System
A crucial part of this project was fitting a new drainage system. Proper drainage prevents standing water, rising damp, protects the paving, and extends the lifespan of the installation. This ensures the patio remains functional and visually appealing all year round, even during heavy rainfall.
