At Country Groundworks, we take pride in transforming driveways for clients across the UK. Our bespoke driveways are both functional and visually appealing. In the weeks leading up to Christmas, our team completed a beautiful driveway project in Warrington in Cheshire (between Liverpool and Manchester) and we’re excited to share the finished results!
Project Overview
Our client in Warrington approached us as they wanted to widen and renew their driveway to better accommodate parking and improve the kerb appeal of their home. As experienced groundworks and landscaping specialists with over 20 years in the trade, we knew attention to detail would be important in this project.
The Process
We first travelled to the property to take a look at the project and had a discussion with the customer about what they wanted to achieve. We showed various samples of styles and materials for the driveway, with our expert team giving them advice throughout this process. We then left them to decide on what style they wanted and once they accepted our quote, work could begin.
Our driveway installation process at Country Groundworks has been perfected over many years to give the best quality finish and lasting durability.
Full Excavation & Site Preparation
We began this driveway project in Warrington by excavating the existing surface to the required depth. Proper excavation is critical for a long-lasting driveway so this stage was important. We removed the old material to create a stable base which will help prevent future movement or sinking.
Digging Out
Once cleared, the Country Groundworks team dug out the area to ensure a consistent level across the entire surface. We checked gradients and slopes carefully to allow rainwater runoff and a smooth final finish.
The client also wanted more space for parking and ease of access to their garage so we widened the driveway and removed a border of stone chippings. This created a more practical and visually appealing entrance to their home.
Hardcore Base Installation
After excavation, we laid a hardcore sub-base made out of stone material which we then compacted to form a solid foundation, ready for the new paving. This step is essential in block paving installations to ensure durability and long-term stability.
Block Paving
Once our team had the groundwork in place at this property in Warrington, we laid the block paving in a design that complements the property and was picked by the customer. We made sure to curve the paving so it matched the existing edge of the well-loved garden.
Conclusion
Once our team at Country Groundworks had finished, the look of their home was greatly improved and access was improved the property.
Other benefits of this driveway installation in Cheshire was that drainage was greatly improved. We often see drainage improvements in block paving as tarmac and concrete is impermeable so lets very little water through to the ground beneath it to drain away whereas block paving can let the water drain through the joints.
To sum up, whist our customers where first and foremost happy with the improvements to the property they set out for us to achieve, they also found that water wouldn’t pool like it did on their old driveway. The final benefit of this project is that it has added value to our customer’s home, making it a great investment for the future if they did want to sell.
